ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ (shivamogga), ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 18: ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ಮಳೆಯಾಗದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಭದ್ರಾ ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟು ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಜನ-ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಗಾಗಿ, ಜಲಾಶಯದ ವಿತರಣಾ ನಾಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ದಿನಾಂಕ 17.09.2026ರ ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿ 12 ಗಂಟೆಯಿಂದ 02.10.2026 ರವರೆಗೆ, ಒಟ್ಟು 15 ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನೀರು ಹರಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಭದ್ರಾ ಯೋಜನಾ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಸಲಹಾ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳೂ ಆದ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕ ಅಭಿಯಂತರರು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟು ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಅಭಾವ ನೀಗಿಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆರೆ-ಹಳ್ಳಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಲು ನೀರು ಹರಿಸುವಂತೆ ರೈತರು, ಶಾಸಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ರೈತ ಮುಖಂಡರು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ, ಭದ್ರಾವತಿ, ದಾವಣಗೆರೆ, ಶಾಂತಿಸಾಗರ ಮತ್ತು ಮಲೆಬೆನ್ನೂರು ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆಗಳು ಸಹ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದವು.
ಈ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಹಾಗೂ ದಾವಣಗೆರೆ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದ ವರದಿ ಅನ್ವಯ, ಜಲಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲ ಸಚಿವರು ಹಾಗೂ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಸಲಹಾ ಸಮಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಮಧು ಬಂಗಾರಪ್ಪ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿ ಈ ತೀರ್ಮಾನ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕೇವಲ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರು, ಅಂತರ್ಜಲ ವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆರೆಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಸಲು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಳಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 2026 ರವರೆಗೆ ಅಭಾವ ಎದುರಾಗದಂತೆ ಸದ್ಬಳಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.
ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೂ ನೀರನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಳಸುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ನೀರೆತ್ತುವುದನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುನಿಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ನಿಷೇಧಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಹಿತದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಕಾಲುವೆ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ತಿರುಗಾಡುವುದು, ದನಕರುಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆಯುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ದೈನಂದಿನ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ನಿಷೇಧಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟು ಭಾಗದ ರೈತರು ಇಲಾಖೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿ ಭದ್ರಾ ಯೋಜನಾ ನೀರಾವರಿ ಸಲಹಾ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕ ಅಭಿಯಂತರರು ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋರಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Water Release from Bhadra Dam to Canals: Strict Adherence to Rules Mandatory!
Shivamogga, September 18: Due to the lack of expected rainfall during August and September of the current year, and to meet the drinking water needs of people and livestock in the Bhadra command area, water will be released into the reservoir’s distribution canals for a total of 15 days—from midnight on September 17, 2026, to October 2, 2026. This announcement was made by the Superintending Engineer, who also serves as the Member Secretary of the Bhadra Project Irrigation Advisory Committee.
Farmers, MLAs, and farm leaders had urged the authorities to release water to alleviate the drinking water shortage in the command area and to replenish tanks and streams. Protests had also taken place in Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Davanagere, Shantisagara, and Malebennur.
This decision was reached following reports submitted to the government by the Deputy Commissioners of Shivamogga and Davanagere, and after consultations involving Madhu Bangarappa—the Minister for Water Resources and Chairman of the Irrigation Advisory Committee—along with other senior officials. The released water is to be used exclusively for drinking purposes, groundwater recharge, and filling tanks; it must be utilized judiciously to ensure no shortage arises before December 2026.
Under no circumstances may the water be used for crops, and unauthorized water extraction is strictly prohibited. In the public interest, activities such as walking, washing cattle, and performing daily chores within the canal beds are prohibited.
