ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ (shivamogga), ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 01 : ಜಲಾನಯನ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರೀ ಮಳೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಗಾಜನೂರಿನ ತುಂಗಾ ಜಲಾಶಯದ ಒಳಹರಿವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣನೀಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳ ಕಂಡುಂದಿದೆ.
ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 01 ರ ಸಂಜೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯಂತೆ ತುಂಗಾ ಡ್ಯಾಂಗೆ 77,386 ಕ್ಯೂಸೆಕ್ ಒಳಹರಿವಿದೆ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಡ್ಯಾಂ ಗರಿಷ್ಠ ಮಟ್ಟ ತಲುಪಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಒಳಹರಿವಿನಷ್ಟೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಹೊರ ಬಿಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಡ್ಯಾಂನಿಂದ ಭಾರೀ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ನೀರು ಹೊರ ಬಿಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ನಗರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿರುವ ತುಂಗಾ ನದಿಯು ಮೈದುಂಬಿ ಹರಿಯಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ.
ಕೋರ್ಪಳಯ್ಯನ ಛತ್ರದ ಸಮೀಪದ ತುಂಗಾ ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಪಾಯದ ಮಟ್ಟ ಮೀರಿಸುವ ಮಂಟಪ ಮುಳುಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಎರಡ್ಮೂರು ಅಡಿಯಷ್ಟು ನೀರು ಹರಿದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿದೆ.
ತುಂಗಾ ಡ್ಯಾಂನಿಂದ ಹೊರ ಬಿಡುವ ನೀರಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಇನಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದರೆ, ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ನಗರದ ನದಿಪಾತ್ರದ ತಗ್ಗು ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರು ನುಗ್ಗುವ ಆತಂಕವೂ ಇದೆ.
Heavy water release from Tunga Dam: Tunga River swells in Shivamogga! | Shivamogga, August 01: Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area, the inflow into the Tunga reservoir at Gajanur in Shivamogga taluk has increased significantly.
As of the evening of August 01, the inflow into the Tunga Dam was recorded at 77,386 cusecs. Since the dam has already reached its maximum level, water is being released in proportion to the inflow.
Because of this massive water release, the Tunga River flowing through Shivamogga city has begun to swell. The mantapa near Korpallayya’s Chhatra in the river has submerged, with two to three feet of water flowing over it. If the outflow from the Tunga Dam increases further, there is concern that water may enter the low-lying areas along the riverbanks in Shivamogga city.
