ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ (shivamogga), ಮೇ 30 : ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ವಿವಿಧೆಡೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಮರಳು ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ, ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಗಾಣಿಕೆ ದಂಧೆಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಇಲಾಖೆಯು 30/5/2026 ರಂದು ಬೃಹತ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದು, ಕೋಟ್ಯಂತರ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ಮರಳು ಹಾಗೂ ವಾಹನಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ, ಭದ್ರಾವತಿ, ತೀರ್ಥಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಸಾಗರ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಸನಗರ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಯುವ ತುಂಗಭದ್ರಾ ಮತ್ತು ಶರಾವತಿ ನದಿ ಪಾತ್ರದ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಮರಳು ದಂಧೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತರು ಸ್ವಯಂ ಪ್ರೇರಿತ ದೂರು ದಾಖಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಸ್ಥಳ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ಗಣಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಹಿರಿಯ ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ ಕಛೇರಿಯ ದಾಖಲಾತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸುವಂತೆ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತರು ಆದೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
15 ತಂಡಗಳಿಂದ 25 ಕಡೆ ಏಕಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಳಿ: ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಆದೇಶದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕರಾದ ಎಂ.ಎಸ್. ಕೌಲಾಪುರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಉಪಾಧೀಕ್ಷಕರಾದ ಬಿ.ಪಿ. ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಮತ್ತು ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೃಹತ್ ತಂಡವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತದ ವಿವಿಧ ಘಟಕಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ 15 ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ತಂಡಗಳು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ 25ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಕ್ರಮ ಮರಳು ತಾಣಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಶನಿವಾರ ಏಕಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಸಿವೆ.
ಮರಳು, ವಾಹನಗಳು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ: ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 17,000 ಮೆಟ್ರಿಕ್ ಟನ್ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಮರಳು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಪತ್ತೆ ಹಚ್ಚಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮರಳು ಗಣಿಗಾರಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಗಾಣಿಕೆಗೆ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಜೆಸಿಬಿ, ಹಿಟಾಚಿ, ಟಿಪ್ಪರ್ ಲಾರಿಗಳು, ಟ್ರ್ಯಾಕ್ಟರ್ಗಳು, ಬೋಟ್ಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಮರಳು ಫಿಲ್ಟರ್ ಮಾಡುವ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಒಟ್ಟು 52 ವಾಹನ/ಪರಿಕರಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು, ಗಣಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಕಛೇರಿಯ ಮೇಲೂ ಶೋಧನಾ ವಾರೆಂಟ್ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಕಛೇರಿಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೀವ್ರ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಜಂಟಿ ಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂಚನೆ: ಅಕ್ರಮ ಮರಳು ದಂಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕಾನೂನು ರೀತ್ಯಾ ಕಠಿಣ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಗಣಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಕಂದಾಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಆರ್.ಟಿ.ಓ, ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ಭೂ ದಾಖಲಾತಿ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಪರಿಸರ ಮಾಲಿನ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಿ.ಡಬ್ಲ್ಯುಡಿ ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತರು ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಜಂಟಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ದಾವಣಗೆರೆ, ಹಾವೇರಿ, ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು, ಚಿತ್ರದುರ್ಗ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಘಟಕಗಳ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಉಪಾಧೀಕ್ಷಕರು, ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇನ್ಸ್ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದವರು ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಲೋಕಾಯುಕ್ತ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕರು ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Sand mafia in Shivamogga district reels under Lokayukta raid: 17 000 metric tonnes of sand – 52 vehicles seized!
Shivamogga, May 30: The Karnataka Lokayukta Department conducted a massive operation on 30/5/2026 against illegal sand mining, collection and transportation activities going on in various parts of the district and seized sand and vehicles worth crores of rupees.
The Karnataka Lokayukta had registered a suo motu complaint regarding the widespread illegal sand mining in the Tungabhadra and Sharavathi river basins flowing in Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Thirthahalli, Sagar and Hosanagar taluks.
The Lokayukta had ordered a site inspection in this regard and to examine the records of the office of the Senior Geologist of the Mines and Geology Department, Shivamogga.
15 teams raid 25 places simultaneously: Following the Lokayukta order, a large team was formed under the guidance and supervision of Shivamogga Lokayukta Superintendent of Police M.S. Kaulapure and Deputy Superintendent of Police B.P. Chandrashekhar. 15 separate teams comprising various units of the Karnataka Lokayukta raided more than 25 illegal sand sites in the district simultaneously on Saturday.
Sand, vehicles seized: In this operation, Lokayukta officials have detected 17,000 metric tonnes of illegal sand collection. Along with this, a total of 52 vehicles/equipment including JCB, Hitachi, tipper lorries, tractors, boats and sand filtering machines used for sand mining and transportation have been seized.
Senior geologist and Lokayukta officials in Shivamogga also raided the office of the Mines and Geology Department under a search warrant and subjected important documents of the office to a thorough scrutiny.
Instructions for joint action: The Lokayukta has instructed the Mines and Geology Department, Revenue Department, Police Department, RTO, Forest Department, Assistant Land Records Department, Environmental Pollution and Control Department and PWD departments to take strict action as per the law against those involved in the illegal sand mining business.
Deputy Superintendents of Police, Police Inspectors and staff of Lokayukta units of not only Shivamogga but also Davangere, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga and Belgaum districts actively participated in this joint operation, the Shivamogga Lokayukta Superintendent of Police said in a statement.
