ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ, ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 10: ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಸಕ್ರೆಬೈಲು ಆನೆ ಬಿಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 12 ರಂದು ವಿಶ್ವ ಆನೆಗಳ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು, ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ವಿಭಾಗದಿಂದ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಇದೆ ವೇಳೆ ಬಿಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದ್ದ ಎರಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮರಿಯಾನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನಾಮಕರಣ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಕೂಡ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಒಂದಕ್ಕೆ ‘ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ’ ಹಾಗೂ ಮತ್ತೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ‘ತುಂಗಾ’ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಡಾರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ 23 ಆನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಕವಾಗಿ ಸಿಂಗರಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಣ್ಣಹಂಪಲು ಕೊಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು, ಮಾವುತರು, ಕಾವಾಡಿಗಳು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

Shivamogga, August 10: An Elephant Day program was organized by the Wildlife Division of the Forest Department on August 12 at the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp in Shivamogga Taluk.

Meanwhile, naming ceremonies were also held for the two baby girls elephants in the camp. One was named ‘Chamundi’ and the other ‘Tunga’. The 23 elephants in the camp were decorated.

The ceremony was held in a ceremonial manner. Forest Department officials, staff, mahutu, and kavadis were present at the ceremony.
