ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ (shivamogga), ಮೇ 01: ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ನಗರದ ಗಾಡಿಕೊಪ್ಪದ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಅಳವಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಬಹು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಿದೆ. ಮೇ 01 ರಂದು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಠಾಣೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು, ಸದರಿ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮೂವಿಂಗ್ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಇನ್ಸ್’ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ ದೇವರಾಜ್ ಮತ್ತವರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು. ಹಲವು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ದೇವರಾಜ್ ಮತ್ತವರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು, ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ನಂತರ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಹನ ಸಂಚಾರ ದಟ್ಟಣೆಯ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.
ದಶಕಗಳ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ : ಗಾಡಿಕೊಪ್ಪದ ಮೂಲಕ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಕಳೆದ ಕೆಲ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸದರಿ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಚತುಷ್ಪಥ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವಾಹನಗಳು ಸಂಚರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಅತೀ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ವಾಹನ ದಟ್ಟಣೆಯಿದೆ.
ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಂತಿರುವ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ, ಜನ – ವಾಹನ ಸಂಚಾರ ದಟ್ಟಣೆಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಅಪಘಾತಗಳ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯು ಗಂಡಾಂತರಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಪರಿಣಮಿಸಿತ್ತು.
ಜೀವ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿಡಿದು ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ದಾಟಿ ಶಾಲೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಓಡಾಡುವಂತಹ ದುಃಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹಲವು ಶಾಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅಪಘಾತದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸದರಿ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವಾಹನಗಳ ವೇಗ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಗ್ರಹ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ಈ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ‘ಉದಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ’ ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ನ್ಯೂಸ್ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ವರದಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ನಾಗರಿಕರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮನ್ನಣೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ರಕ್ಷಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ನಿಖಿಲ್ ಬಿ ಅವರು, ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕ್ರಮಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಗೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.
ಅದರಂತೆ ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಇನ್ಸ್’ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ ದೇವರಾಜ್ ರವರು ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ಗೆ ಭೇಟಿಯಿತ್ತು ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರ ಅಹವಾಲು ಆಲಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಇದೀಗ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂವಿಂಗ್ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದರ ಸಾಧಕ – ಬಾಧಕ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕ್ರಮಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

*** ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಗಾಡಿಕೊಪ್ಪ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಪಾದಚಾರಿಗಳ ಸುಗಮ ಸಂಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವ ಕ್ರಮಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ರಕ್ಷಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ನಿಖಿಲ್ ಬಿ ಅವರು ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು. ಅದರಂತೆ ಗಾಡಿಕೊಪ್ಪ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಯೋಗಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮೂವಿಂಗ್ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸದರಿ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ನ ಸಾಧಕ – ಬಾಧಕ ಪರಿಶೀಲನೆ ನಡೆಸಿ, ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಟ್ರಾಫಿಕ್ ಇನ್ಸ್’ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ ದೇವರಾಜ್ ಅವರು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

*** ಕಳೆದ ಹಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿ, ಶಾಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದೀಗ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗ್ನಲ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರ ಸಂತಸಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮೇ 01 ರಂದು ಗಾಡಿಕೊಪ್ಪ ಸರ್ಕಲ್ ಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ ಇನ್ಸ್’ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ ದೇವರಾಜ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಹೂವಿನ ಮಾಲೆ ಹಾಕಿ, ಶಾಲು ಹೊದಿಸಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರು. ಜನಪರ ಕಾಳಜಿ, ಬದ್ದತೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

*** ನಗರದ ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣ, ಎಂಆರ್’ಎಸ್ ಸರ್ಕಲ್, ಗಾಡಿಕೊಪ್ಪ, ಆಲ್ಕೋಳ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ 5 ಕಡೆ ಜಪಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಸ್ಕೈವಾಕರ್ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆಯಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಸಂಸದ ಬಿ ವೈ ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಅವರು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವನೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವಂತೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Signal light at Gadikoppa Circle in Shivamogga: Traffic police respond to citizens’ decade-long demand! | Report: B. Renukesh | Shivamogga, May 01: The police department has responded to the long-standing demand of installing a signal light at Gadikoppa Circle in Shivamogga city. On May 01, the West Traffic Station police installed a moving signal light on an experimental basis at the said circle.
Traffic Inspector Devaraj and his staff were present on this occasion. Devaraj and his staff, who were at the circle for several hours, inspected the traffic congestion in the circle after installing the signal light.
Decade-long demand: The national highway passes through Gadikoppa. The said highway was developed into a four-lane road a few years ago. Thousands of vehicles ply daily. There is a lot of traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, in the circle, which is adjacent to a government school, the number of accidents has increased along with the traffic congestion. The highway has become dangerous for government school children in particular.
There was a dire situation where children were crossing the highway to school and home, risking their lives. In the past, many school children had been injured in accidents. In the wake of this, there was a demand to take necessary measures to control the speed of vehicles, including installing signal lights on the said highway.
‘Udaya Sakshi’ Digital News had been reporting on this continuously. District Protection Officer Nikhil B, who had appreciated the opinion of the citizens, had directed the traffic police to take necessary remedial measures in the circle.
Accordingly, Traffic Inspector Devaraj had visited the circle several times and inspected the remedial measures. He had listened to the complaints of the local citizens. Now, moving signal lights have been installed on the circle on an experimental basis. It has been decided to take further remedial measures in the coming days after examining the pros and cons of this.

*** District Protection Officer Nikhil B had instructed to take necessary measures for the smooth movement of school children and pedestrians in Gadikoppa Circle, Shivamogga. Accordingly, a moving signal light has been installed on an experimental basis in Gadikoppa Circle. Traffic Inspector Devaraj informed the local citizens that the pros and cons of the said signal light will be examined and further remedial measures will be taken in the coming days.

*** There is a proposal to construct state-of-the-art sky walkers on the model of Japan at 5 places including the city bus stand, MRS Circle, Gadikoppa, and Alkola. In this regard, MP BY Raghavendra has instructed the National Highways Department to submit the necessary proposal to the Central Government.
