ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ (shivamogga), ಜನವರಿ 02: ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ನಗರದ ದೇವರಾಜ ಅರಸು ಬಡಾವಣೆ ಬಳಿಯ ನೀರು ಪೂರೈಕೆಯ ಓವರ್ ಹೆಡ್ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಸಮೀಪ, ರಾಜಕಾಲುವೆ ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರಿನ ಮೂಲಕ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳನ್ನು, ಜಲ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಆಡಳಿತ ಕೊನೆಗೂ ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ!
ರಾಜಕಾಲುವೆ ಬಳಿ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗದ ಮೂಲಕ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಸದರಿ ಕಾರ್ಯದಿಂದ ರಾಜಕಾಲುವೆ ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳ ಸಂಪರ್ಕದಿಂದ ದೂರ ಉಳಿಯುವಂತಾಗಿದೆ.
ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿರುವ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ಬಿ ರೇಣುಕೇಶ್ ಅವರು, ವಿಶೇಷ ವರದಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು. ಸದರಿ ವರದಿಯ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಎಚ್ಚೆತ್ತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಜಲ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಆಡಳಿತ, ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳಾಂತರಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದ ಕೆಲ ವಾರಗಳಿಂದ ನಡೆಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ.
ಏನಾಗಿತ್ತು? : ದೇವರಾಜ ಅರಸ್ ಬಡಾವಣೆ ಬಳಿಯಿರುವ ಓವರ್ ಹೆಡ್ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಮೂಲಕ, ವಿವಿಧ ಬಡಾವಣೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರು ಪೂರೈಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸದರಿ ಓವರ್ ಹೆಡ್ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಸಂಪರ್ಕದ ಪೈಪ್ ಲೈನ್ ಗಳು ಕಾಶೀಪುರ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಬರುವ ರಾಜ ಕಾಲುವೆ ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದವು. ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಮುನ್ನೆಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಪಾಲನೆ ಮಾಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಸದರಿ ಓವರ್ ಹೆಡ್ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ನಿಂದ ಶಾರದಮ್ಮ ಲೇಔಟ್, ಮೈತ್ರಿ ಅಪಾರ್ಟ್ ಮೆಂಟ್, ದೇವರಾಜ ಅರಸು ಬಡಾವಣೆ, ಸೂರ್ಯ ಲೇಔಟ್, ಪಿ ಅಂಡ್ ಟಿ ಲೇಔಟ್, ಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿ ನಗರ, ಜೆ ಹೆಚ್ ಪಟೇಲ್ ಬಡಾವಣೆ, ಸೋಮಿನಕೊಪ್ಪ, ಕೆಹೆಚ್’ಬಿ ಲೇಔಟ್, ಟೀಚರ್ಸ್ ಲೇಔಟ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಬಡಾವಣೆಗಳ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ನಾಗರೀಕರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರು ಪೂರೈಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಕೊಂಚ ಏನಾದರೂ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳು ಹಾಳಾಗಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಳಚೆ ನೀರು ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾದರೆ ಭಾರೀ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅನಾಹುತ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳಿದ್ದವು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಪೈಪ್ ಗಳ ಬಳಿ ಕಸಕಡ್ಡಿ, ಪ್ಲಾಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ಮತ್ತೀತರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಸರಾಗವಾಗಿ ನೀರು ಹರಿದು ಹೋಗಲು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಮಳೆಗಾಲದ ವೇಳೆ ರಾಜಕಾಲುವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಹರಿಯುವಿಕೆಗೆ ಅಡಚಣೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
ಇದೀಗ ಜಲ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಆಡಳಿತ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿರುವುದು ಸ್ವಾಗತಾರ್ಹ ಸಂಗತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಬಡಾವಣೆಗಳ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Shivamogga: Drinking Water Pipes Relocated from Sewage Canal! Report: B. Renukesh
Shivamogga, January 02: Near the overhead water tank at Devaraj Arasu Layout in Shivamogga city, the drinking water pipes that had been passing through the sewage canal have finally begun to be relocated by the Water Board administration.
Work has started to connect the pipes above the canal, and iron pipes have been laid. With this, the drinking water pipes will now remain away from contact with the sewage water.
Journalist B. Renukesh had earlier published a special report in the media highlighting the issue of drinking water pipes running through sewage water, which drew the attention of the authorities. Following this report, the Water Board administration woke up to the problem and began relocating the pipes over the past few weeks.
What had happened? The overhead tank near Devaraj Arasu Layout supplies drinking water to several neighborhoods. The pipeline connections from this tank were passing directly through the sewage canal coming from Kashipur. No precautionary measures had been taken.
From this overhead tank, water is supplied daily to thousands of residents in Sharadamma Layout, Maitri Apartment, Devaraj Arasu Layout, Surya Layout, P&T Layout, Sahyadri Nagar, J.H. Patel Layout, Sominakoppa, KHB Layout, Teachers Layout, and surrounding areas.
If any of the pipes had been damaged, sewage water could have entered the drinking water supply, leading to a major disaster. Moreover, garbage, plastic, and other waste materials often got stuck near the pipes, obstructing the smooth flow of water. During the rainy season, the flow of water in the canal was further hindered.
Now, with the Water Board administration finally taking necessary corrective measures, local residents have welcomed this move as a positive development.
